Antara Dey is a PhD candidate in the Joint Program in Communication and Culture at York University. She completed her Master of Design and Master of Public Relations and Advertising from the University of New South Wales, Sydney. Previously, she completed her Bachelor of Design from the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Delhi. Her doctoral research is focused on popular culture, food studies, consumer culture and digital media.

Océane Nyela is a PhD student in the Joint Program in Communication & Culture at York University. She graduated from the University of Ottawa with an Honours Bachelor of Social Sciences (BSocSc) in Criminology and Sociology. Her master’s project tiled Braided archives: cornrows as a site of diasporic transindividuation takes up sensory ethnography as a way to investigate the role of hair braiding and communication for continental African women living in Canada. She has previously served on the GSA as Equity Officer, ComCult Executive MA Representative, and ISCS Co-Chair.

Brandon Hollingshead is a doctoral candidate in Communication and Culture at York University and Toronto Metropolitan University. His dissertation research is on antiracism, anti-oppression, and radical democratic engagement in historical and autobiographical comic books.
Esther Sampson - Equity Officer
Esther Sampson is a PhD student in the Joint Program in Communication and Culture between York and Toronto Metropolitan Universities. She completed her Master of Arts in the same program along with a Graduate Diploma in Asian Studies from York. Previously, she completed her Honours Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies, Graduate Certificate in Supply Chain Management, and Diploma in Tourism and Travel from Seneca College. Her doctoral research is focused on Autism and neurodiversity in Cognitive Semiotics.

Anneka Bosse is a PhD student on the York side of Communication and Culture. She completed her MA in Cultural Analysis and Social Theory at Wilfrid Laurier University and honours BA in Popular Culture with a minor in Dramatic Arts at Brock. She is interested in community-based participatory research with migrant agricultural workers and organizations that support them in the Niagara region.
